We are proud to highlight the recent visit of Dr. Busheng Wang from China, who was invited to speak at the first edition of the CS2PA Workshop (Crystal Structure Prediction & Machine-learned Potentials Applications), organized by Gilles Frapper, researcher at IC2MP, and held from June 10 to 14 at Poitiers University.
This international workshop brought together young researchers and PhD students for a full week of hands-on tutorials on advanced computational tools for material discovery. Participants were introduced to two powerful methods for exploring potential energy surfaces: an evolutionary algorithm (XtalOpt) and an ab initio random structure search (AIRSS). The sessions also covered machine-learning-based interatomic potentials and a novel, computationally efficient GPR Calculator to accelerate simulations.
We are especially proud that our doctoral students could benefit from this high-level training. Among them, Jules, a PhD student funded by IntREE, actively took part in the workshop and engaged directly with international experts like Dr. Wang.
By supporting such initiatives and the mobility of renowned international researchers, we reaffirm our commitment to offering our young researchers privileged access to cutting-edge scientific knowledge and global research networks.
